There is a distinct lack of writers on Tumblr
There’s such a distinct lack of text content on Tumblr that breaks even 100 words in a post, it’s pretty sad. I’m sure there are some fantastic writers out there, some fantastic thinkers too but where is their representation?
[snip]
The most popular Tumblelog classified under “writer” has three pictures of Miley Cyrus on its first page and a total of one hundred and forty three words. To anyone who writes significant amounts on Tumblr, like myself, frankly that is pretty insulting.

Everyone calm down and follow Mills, one of my favorite writers period.
Its all a scene and playground of children, immature photographers, LOLZcats, memes, and stupid redundancy; Tumblr, you are officially inane humor.
Let’s TRY and have some intelligence occasionally; dont pretend that you have that intellect.
I’m going to go out on a limb here that will probably lose me a few followers.
Fuck off; use Tumblr the way you want to use it. (This applies to almost every other little piece of life as well)
If you want to see more writing, you can do more writing. Go ahead, I’ll follow/reblog/like you if I can appreciate what you’re saying. But you can’t push this absurd call to arms on everyone else. There’s a reason Tumblr is the most versatile and effective combination of blog and social networking system around: it’s not just text. If you want text, go to LiveJournal or Vox or fuck, even start your own blog. You’ll probably learn more things and make more connections that you will be satisfied with, since everyone on those sites is doing what you seem to want from a blog.
And I don’t claim to speak for anyone else, but I know that I use Tumblr for sharing what I feel is interesting. Often that isn’t writing, because I write all the fucking time, I don’t feel like sharing that writing in a forum such as this, and I spend too much time on everything else to talk at length and in a well-thought-out manner about things that are important to me on a blog. It’s nothing against the people or the medium, I just find that my writing is more effective in a word processor or on paper than when punched into some goddamn text box on some goddamn website. I sometimes put up samples of my work, but that’s just not the agenda I like to push on this site. I personally prefer to go through more sporadic pickings of the brain with a long rant (such as this) thrown in every once in a while.
I’m sorry if I’m being too angry about this, but one of my largest pet peeves is when someone pushes their pretentious and frankly insignificant agenda on other people (yeah, I have a lot of issues with authority, too). I also got a bit riled up about this because of the condescending matter in which this note was written, but that was probably intended, as this manner of writing seems to grab more attention.
But I digress. I’ll write a lot if I damn well want to, not because someone is telling me it’s what I should be doing to seem intelligent to the rest of the Internet.
tl;dr—I’ll write what I want, when I want, thank you very much. People really need to stop telling other people how to go about their lives.
PS-If you want a good text-heavy blog, I highly recommend TheSwain.net. That is, if you read this far without getting bored/angry at me.
So don’t alter my altar
And don’t desecrate my shrine
My church is the water
And my home is underneath the shady pines
Don’t underestimate the spine in a poor man’s back
When it’s against the wall and his future’s black
